our story
Introvert and extrovert, classic overthinker and Miss Impulsive, Timberman and Pineapple. That is Matt and Melissa. Lisa B. was the mastermind behind this set-up, and Fr. Charles and Louise were the mouthpieces that brought them together.
It was a fresh Friday evening when these two of us met at the Benedictine Brewery on St. Patrick’s day. Matt walked into the brewery while Melissa already was inside hanging out with Louise at the register. Louise discreetly leaned over and said, “Melissa...that’s him...he just walked in.” In a panic, Melissa ran to the bathroom not knowing what to do. This was uncharacteristic of her, maybe deep in her soul she was scared of the future. After praying a few Hail Mary’s, she came out of the bathroom to find Matt sitting in her chair (which happened to be the only seat that was open on this crowded night. Matt wasn’t planning on going to the brewery as he usually went on Wednesdays, but something told him to go. Thanks Guardian Angels! After a very Melissa-like introduction the two began talking.
It took a few weeks for the two to on their first dinner date. Gloria, one of Melissa’s BFF’s happened to call her a few minutes before being picked up for dinner. Melissa told Gloria, “I think I’m going on a date...but I’m not sure. It was unclear, and I just couldn’t be direct and ask.” Turns out it WAS a date, and the two hit it off. They spent the evening talking about Catholicism, politics, movies, games, and jobs, and goals.
Towards the end of their meal, Melissa said, “Guess what the last movie I worked on before I left Hollywood. I’ll give you a hint: he is the best superhero of all time.” Matt responded, “Well no one is better than BATMAN, but I’ll play your silly game...” The California native nearly drooled on herself at this response, and her heart was ablaze. She knew he was the one.
The two quickly began to spend a lot of time together. After about ten days, they were inseparable and made it a point to spend time together every day. Matt introduced Melissa to forestry, has taught her how to appreciate a farmers life, and is the smartest person she knows. Melissa has since taken Matt on several adventures and introduced him to numerous friends.
“Matt has given me a quality of life that I did not think I would ever have. I’m so grateful that God brought us together. I never thought I would meet a man who I saw eye to eye with spiritually and on what is most important in my life.” - Melissa
“Melissa has been a gift from heaven. She has brought joy and spontaneity into my life, for which I will ever be thankful. Her love, kindness, openness to all make each day exciting. I never thought I would meet a woman who could balance all my faults so perfectly while still having so much agreement on value.” - Matt
For a more colorful rendition of this love story, please be sure to attend the reception. We look forward to seeing you there!
